Automatic Gas Sampler (GBS)

Automated and Reliable Sampling Solution for Gaseous Applications

Overview

The JAS Automatic Gas Sampler (GBS) is a fully automated solution for the precise and reliable sampling of gases stored in Tedlar® bags, gas sampling balloons, or gas cylinders such as calibration gas sources.

Equipped with a multi-position valve system and intuitive JAS Control Software, the GBS enables seamless, unattended operation for laboratories and process environments requiring high-throughput gas analysis.

The system ensures contamination-free transfer and efficient purging between samples, making it ideal for refineries, environmental testing labs, and gas calibration applications.

System Functionality

Sample transfer is carried out via a multi-position valve.
Each gas inlet is equipped with an in-line filter to prevent valve blockage, ensuring clean and reliable operation.
Connection to the Gas Chromatograph (GC) is achieved using a 1/16” stainless steel tube interface.

The GBS is fully controlled through JAS Control Software, providing flexibility, automation, and complete integration with Agilent and third-party GC systems.

Available Models

JAS offers the GBS in two standard configurations:

  • GBS-8 – For up to 8 bags or gas sampling balloons
  • GBS-10 – For up to 10 bags or gas sampling balloons

Each model includes an additional purge and vent port.
Custom versions are available for more than 10 bag/balloon connections on request.

Optional Features

  • Inert Version: For reactive or corrosive gas samples
  • JAS GICU (Gas Injection Control Unit): Maintains precise pressure for reproducible injection results

Key Features

  • Handles gas bags/balloons up to 2–3 bar pressure
  • Fully purgable flow paths to eliminate cross-contamination
  • Integrated pump for sampling at atmospheric or slight pressure differentials
  • User-friendly JAS Control Software for complete automation
  • Random bag selection and programmable sequences
  • Real-time display of active port position
  • Minimal waiting time between runs — allows loop purging during analysis
  • Compatible with existing GC methods — no modification required
  • Processes pressurized and atmospheric samples within one sequence
  • Works with Agilent and third-party GCs (via start/stop or remote control cable)
